City of Puxico City-Wide Cleanup

Sat., August 5, 2017      7 a.m. – 3 p.m.

As a part of the City-Wide Cleanup, the city trash service, Henson Trash, will set up a dumpster on the west side of the City Hall parking lot.  Citizens of Puxico may discard bulk trash from the City-Wide Cleanup in this dumpster, including basically anything out of the house that is in disrepair, such as couches, computers, chairs, televisions, dressers, commodes, and small appliances.  There will be no door-to-door pickup of bulk trash.  In order to dump the bulk trash in the dumpster, a person must show proof of residence in the City, such as a driver’s license or a utility bill with name and address, to a representative from the trash company who will be on site and will be able to help with the dumping of larger items.   Items that cannot be put in the dumpster include yard waste, such as straw, grass, dirt, leaves and railroad ties; construction materials, and hazardous or infectious materials, such as tires, batteries, motor oil, radiator fluid, medical waste, and paint.

Puxico is located near the "bootheel" of Missouri and is a community of about 900 residents. The town is a combination of life-long residents and newcomers, business owners and farmers, retirees and young people. It is a community filled with history and pride that welcomes new residents, new ideas and new ways of doing things.

We certainly believe that Puxico is one of the most friendly and charming rural communities in Missouri. We take pride in our excellent school, healthy business environment, and attractive neighborhoods and parks.  Our town is a great place to live, work, and visit.  Puxico is situated on Highway 51 and halfway between St. Louis and Memphis.

Farming is the major industry in the area. The land around Puxico is some of the most productive in the country for growing soybeans, corn, rice, and other crops. The town is surrounded by thousands of acres of prime farm land, but the area is also filled with excellent hunting and fishing areas which allows for awesome recreational experiences.

In Puxico, we have the best of both worlds – the serenity of small town living combined with thriving small businesses.  We do not want to forget to mention of our superior school system.  Puxico R-8 School District is A+ Certified that is filled with Indian Pride!
