Welcome Homecomers 2016!!!

Welcome Home to the 70th Annual VFW Homecoming
August 9 - 13, 2016

Purpose of the Homecoming Ferris wheel

The Puxico VFW Post 7822 began sponsoring the "Homecoming" in 1947 as a way to bring residents of Puxico, past and present, together. The Puxico Homecoming has become an important time of the year for many residents and former residents of Puxico. People return each year to Puxico on the second Tuesday in August to renew old acquaintances. It is truly a "coming home" for many people. The streets of Puxico are filled every year with happy people greeting old friends, reminiscing, and, in general, just having a good time. Each year the VFW has diligently planned to make the Puxico Homecoming "bigger and better". There is something for everyone – carnival rides, beauty pageants, baby contests, square dancing, music, a church service, attendance drawings, a parade, class reunions, alumni meeting and of course the world famous goatburgers.

Please see the documents and information below for Homecoming details . . . we hope to see you on the Midway!

Homecoming Schedule 2016; the program is also list at the bottom of this page.

Last year's information is listed below . . . 2015.

Homecoming Float Contest:
The members of the Puxico VFW Ladies Auxiliary and People Community band are sponsoring a float contest in the Puxico Homecoming Parade August 16th.  Prizes will be awarded as follows:  $150 for first place, $100 for second place and $75 for third place.

Class Reunion Information:

"I want to use the theme "Homecoming Traditions" for the 2015 Puxico VFW Homecoming Souvenir book. So during the 2014 Puxico Homecoming, Lana Hager or Jayne Allison may ask you what is your favorite homecoming tradition and ask to take a photo. Please help caption some great photos and memories of those favorite traditions. ... Since class reunions are one of the Homecoming Traditions, all Puxico High School alumni that are having class reunions will have an opportunity to purchase a page for next year's book for $75. Someone from the class will need to take photos, collect the money and put the photos on a zip drive for Patti McLean. Please let me know if your class will be interested." -- Patti McLean

Class of 1950 -- Your Class Reunion is meeting 4 PM - 6 PM on Friday August 15th at the Cowtown Café.  The café is located at 20248 State Highway E, Bloomfield, MO.  Come out for fun and fellowship with Puxico classmates.  For more information, call Martha Sifford-Ware at (573) 222-3344.

Class of 1961 -- Your class will be meeting at the Puxico Nutrition Center on Saturday, August 16th after the Homecoming Parade.  Bring photos and stories to share.  If unable to come, send a newsletter with photos of you and your families.

Class of 1964 -- Your 50 yr. class reunion will be held at the VFW Hall (top of hill on East end of Main Street/Richardson Ave) immediately following the parade on Sat. Aug. 16. The parade will begin at 1 p.m. Your class float will meet at South Park next door to Peoples Community Bank on the South side of Puxico. You need to be there by 12:30 PM. Please plan on riding on the float ...(a step stool will be provided - please don't laugh - you'll need one sooner than you think for it seems impossible that 50 years have already passed!!). ALSO on FRIDAY NIGHT your class will be honored at the Alumni at 6 p.m. in the Arnold Ryan Gym on the school campus. We're hoping everyone will make every attempt to be there for this gathering. At 4 p.m. on Fri. the documentary "Puxico" by Natalie Hemby (Tom Hemby's daughter) will be presented. You won't want to miss any of these great memory making events. Hope to see you there! Please share this with your classmates. -- Bonnie Taylor

Class of 1969 -- August 16th at 2 PM at the FEMA Building on the campus of Puxico High School.  Call Kathy Norris-Ginn at 573-222-3170.

Class of 1974 -- Just want to let everyone know that the we will have class reunion on the Saturday of Homecoming at Indian Hills Winery! The time is 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM hope you can come! Looking forward to seeing all! Safe travels and May God Bless! Try to get the word out to all! Thanks! -- Barb Campbell

Class of 1979 -- Just a reminder that we will have class reunion on the Saturday of Homecoming at Indian Hills Winery at 2:00 PM.

Class of 2009 -- Our reunion will be held at Indian Hills Winery at the covered patio beside the deck (same parking lot as the main building).  The owners have asked that we do NOT bring in any outside drinks.  If you get there a little early and are hungry, feel free to order so their kitchen doesn't get slowed down with everyone ordering at one time.  Here is a link to their menu and wine list.  We will split the $50 deposit once everyone arrives, but I think everyone will just need to chip in a few bucks to cover it. -- Sara Beth Holloway

Class of 1994 -- We will be holding our class reunion from 4 PM - 6 PM on August 16th at Indian Hills Winery.

Class of 2004 -- Our 10 year reunion will be held the Friday night of Homecoming (August 15th) from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Indian Hills Winery. Spread the word! Looking forward to seeing everyone! -- Holly Hemby
