Alderman Mitchell Resign

At the City of Puxico Board of Aldermen meeting held on Thursday, October 15, 2020, the Board accepted the resignation of Matthew Mitchell as Alderman for Ward 1.  Mitchell felt that with work, family, and church, he did not have enough time left to devote to the job of alderman.

City Ordinances state that the Mayor will appoint a citizen from Ward 1 to fill the vacant position until the next municipal election which will be held in April, 2021.  The Board must then approve any appointment.

Anyone interest in being appointed to this position should contact City Hall (222-3162) or talk with Mayor Rick McLean before the next regular Board meeting which will be held on November 19.

The qualifications for this position include

•  a resident of Ward 1 for at least a year (east side of Highway 51)
at least 21 years of age
  a U.S. citizen
a registered voter for Stoddard County
not be delinquent in state income taxes, personal property taxes, real estate property taxes
not have been found guilty of or pled guilty to a felony or misdemeanor under federal or state laws
